Despite the Duchess of Sussex’s strong interest in charity work, her relatively short tenure in the royal family has surprised many royal watchers – many of whom argue that her exit was influenced by misunderstandings about her role.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond shared her views with OK! stating: « I’ve always been of the view that Meghan has failed to understand that she will never be the top royal … or even the deputy top. »
There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be in complete control and in charge of your life. There’s nothing wrong with seeking the limelight. The royal family was simply the wrong vehicle for her ambitions, » added the royal expert.
In addition, Bond also shed light on what is really driving Meghan’s mind, which may not align with public perception.

In particular, Jane Barr, writing in the From Berkshire to Buckingham newsletter , argued that the idea of Prince Harry and Meghan being « half in, half out » in terms of their royal responsibilities simply wouldn’t be feasible. « She would not be happy with the ultimately quiet or truly independent/non-royal lives that William and Harry’s cousins actually live . »

Barr then added: “Harry wasn’t just the Queen’s grandson, his cousins had the same relationship with Elizabeth. He is also the son of the future king. But royal commentator Duncan Larcombe also recently said Meghan is overshadowing her husband, matching Harry’s tendency to play « second fiddle ».
Speaking to OK! he said: “Meghan is a very strong character, highly motivated, extremely ambitious, and these are the traits that mean she will almost always inevitably overshadow Harry and take the spotlight away from him. Harry is completely in her shadow. But he was never really comfortable with the attention, never really enjoyed it. »
Duncan then added: “Whether it’s intentional or not, Meghan is definitely an attention magnet. We’ve seen a huge amount of money spent on her ensembles in Nigeria, so it’s perhaps no coincidence that she’s stealing the limelight. Their trip to Nigeria was ‘The Meghan Show’ and Harry was just by her side. »
