Apple’s HomePod Mini: “Apple wakes up” a sleeping temperature and humidity sensor for 2 years
Apple’s HomePod Mini smart speaker will get a few new skills when a software update activates a temperature and humidity sensor that had been dormant for more than two years .
Temperature and humidity sensors now appear in the updated HomePod Mini description on Apple’s website. This news comes on the same day that the company presented a second generation HomePod , which will also have the temperature and humidity sensor.
Measure Indoor Environments
“The new built-in temperature and humidity sensor can measure indoor environments, so users can create automations that close blinds or turn on the fan automatically when a certain temperature is reached in a room ,” Apple said. Wednesday in a statement about the new HomePod .
The sensor, which was spotted in the HomePod Minis in 2021, will likely allow the smaller smart speaker to have the same capability . The device works best indoors between 15 and 30°C , and when the humidity is between 30 and 70 percent , Apple says on its website.
Remember that Apple’s new HomePod can be pre-ordered now at a price of 349 euros and will be available from February 3 .
